On July 14, 2017, just before 7 am, two Israeli Druze policemen Ha’il Satawi and Kamil Shnaan were murdered in a terror attack when three Muslim terrorists opened fire at Police forces at Jerusalem’s Temple Mount. The three terrorists were shot and eliminated.

Kamil was murdered on the spot, and Hayil, having heard the gunfire, rushed over. He managed to fire off one shot at one of the terrorists before he too was murdered.

Pop star Ivri Lider wrote a song in honor of Hayil Satawi and Kamil Shanan.

“Nearly 400 Druze servicemen have been killed in defense of the State of Israel,” Lider said. “Not one song has been written in their memory. We honor them in cemeteries and visit their homes, but they are absent from the soundtrack of Israel.”

The song is a collaboration between Lider and Nasreen Qadri, an Israeli Arab singer and songwriter.

Today we mark Israel’s National Memorial Day, Yom HaZikaron.

We remember together the 23,741 fallen Israel soldiers and 3,150 victims of terrorism, who gave their lives so the State of Israel, the miraculous homeland of the Jewish people, who rose from the ashes against all odds, will live.
