US embassy in Israel releases security alert for American citizens ahead of Eurovision, Nakba Day

The US Embassy in Israel is advising US citizens ahead of the anniversary of the US embassy in Jerusalem, as well as violent Muslim riots related to the Nakba Day across Israel and the Eurovision song contest in Tel Aviv (May 14-18).

“May 14, 2019, is the anniversary of the U.S. Embassy opening in Jerusalem, as well as related protests along the Gaza periphery.  Terrorist groups may choose the anniversary, which coincides with the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv (May 14-18), or Nakba Day (May 15), to conduct violent protests or an attack.  Security incidents can occur well beyond Gaza and its periphery and at any time, as demonstrated by the May 3-5 rocket attacks in southern Israel, including Ashdod, Ashkelon, and Beer Sheva, and the March 14 and March 25 rocket attacks in Central Israel”, the US Embassy in Israel said in a statement.

‘Nakba,’ or catastrophe, is the term used by terror-fans and Muslim terror groups such as Hamas and the PLO to refer to the creation of the State of Israel on May 14, 1948.

✡️ On this day, May 14, 1948, the State of Israel was established and the Jewish people regained independence in its historic homeland. Just one day afterward, Arab armies and militias attacked newborn Israel in order to destroy it and annihilate its people. They failed.

Thousands of soldiers will reinforce the IDF troops in Israeli towns near the Gaza border, Jerusalem and Judea-Samaria as Hamas, Fatah, and other terror groups and Arab factions call for violent riots, malicious anti-Israel protests, and terror attacks.

The IDF reportedly deployed additional Iron Dome missile defense systems in central Israel, southern Israel, and other areas.

“As security incidents, including rocket fire, often take place without warning, U.S. citizens are strongly encouraged to remain vigilant and take appropriate steps to increase their security awareness.  In the event of mortar and/or rocket fire, a Red Alert siren may be activated.  Treat all such alerts as real; follow the instructions from local authorities and seek shelter immediately.  Know the location of your closest shelter or protected space.

U.S. government personnel and their family members may be restricted from traveling to areas affected by rocket activity, sirens, and/or the opening of bomb shelters.  For additional information on appropriate action to take upon hearing a siren or explosion, see the Israel Defense Forces Home Front Command website (available on devices within Israel).  U.S. citizens may also wish to download the free Israel Defense Forces Home Front Command application on Android or Apple devices to receive real-time security and safety alerts.  Free commercial applications, such as Red Alert: Israel, are also available”.

Hamas, the Islamic Jihad and other terror groups in Gaza continue threatening with rocket attacks to disrupt the Eurovision song contest in Tel Aviv.
