US Army to buy Iron Dome batteries from Israel ‘for an immediate need’
BREAKING: The United States has informed Israel it will buy the Iron Dome missile defense system “for an immediate need of the US Army”.
The US Army has announced its intent to procure a limited number of Iron Dome weapon systems to fill its short-term need for an interim Indirect Fire Protection Capability (IFPC).
“The Iron Dome will be assessed and experimented as a system that is currently available to protect deployed US military service members against a wide variety of indirect fire threats and aerial threats,” the Army said in a statement.
The Iron Dome provides defense against short-range missiles and rockets launched by Muslim terrorists, which pose a threat to the civilian population of Israel’s northern and southern border.
“A huge achievement for Israel. This is another sign of our strong relations with the US and Israel’s rising status in the world,” Prime Minister and Defense Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.
