US: 11 murdered as Jew-hater opens fire at a Pittsburgh synagogue yelling ‘all these Jews must die’
At least 11 people were murdered and others are injured in a shooting attack at a synagogue in Pittsburgh.
The shooting attack occurred at the Tree of Life Congregation Synagogue in the Squirrel Hill area of Pittsburgh shortly before 10am during a Brit Milah and Shabbat services. The first reports emerged shortly before 10am.
The Jew-hater terrorist, who has been described as a white man with a beard, is in custody. According to police sources, he yelled: ‘All Jews must die’ before being arrested.
None of the victims have been named. Police revealed on Saturday afternoon that all of those killed were adults and that no children were harmed.
Six people were injured, including a 70-year-old man who is undergoing surgery for multiple gunshot wounds and a 61-year-old woman who is expected to survive.
Three of four injured cops are likely to survive but a fourth, a 55-year-old law enforcement officer, is in a critical condition.
The terrorist murdered three people on the ground level, four in the synagogue’s basement and at least one other person before fleeing to the third floor where he exchanged gunfire with police before surrendering.
Three cops have been shot and it is not known what their condition is.
The terrorist has been identified as Robert Bowers, who hates Jews and hates President Trump.
Saturday mornings are often the busiest in the week at the synagogue, with dozens packing in to observe the Sabbath. Others were there to attend a Brit ceremony.
There are three different congregations in the building and all were likely full, according to the synagogue’s former president.
The area is still on lockdown, with many residents living nearby told to lock their doors and not go outside.
President Trump tweeted that he was aware of the unfolding scenario, writing: ‘Watching the events unfolding in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Law enforcement on the scene.
‘People in Squirrel Hill area should remain sheltered.
‘Looks like multiple fatalities. Beware of active shooter. God Bless All!’
“I was heartbroken and appalled by the murderous attack on a Pittsburgh synagogue today.
The entire people of Israel grieve with the families of the dead. We stand together with the Jewish community of Pittsburgh. We stand together with the American people in the face of this horrendous antisemitic brutality.
And we all pray for the speedy recovery of the wounded”, PM Netanyahu said.
