Terrorist eliminated after infiltration attempt – Bomb attached to balloon explodes in Israeli territory
IDF troops on Sunday afternoon identified a group of Muslim terrorists who approached the security fence along the Gaza border and attempted to breach it in order to infiltrate into Israel and murder Jews.
The soldiers opened fire, wounding a Muslim terrorist who was taken for medical treatment by the IDF forces and later died of his wounds.
An explosive device attached to a balloon launched by Muslim terrorists from southern Gaza entered Israeli territory and exploded.
The bomb was filled with steel balls to maximize the effect and inflict maximum casualties.
No injuries or damage reported.
The IDF is on high alert on the Gaza border and across Judea-Samaria
The IDF and Israel Police will be on alert over the days of Rosh Hashanah, with forces stationed in areas where large groups are expected to congregate, outside synagogues, at the Kotel and around the Old City of Jerusalem.
The IDF put in place a total closure of Judea, Samaria and Gaza beginning on Saturday night ahead of Rosh Hashanah.
The closure, a routine counter-terrorism procedure during Israeli and Jewish holidays, is expected to last until midnight on Wednesday.
