Terror in Paris: Muslim terrorist armed with bomb and gun takes hostages, including pregnant woman
The Rue des Petites Ecuries in Paris is on lockdown amid reports of an armed terrorist who has taken three people hostage, including one believed to be a pregnant woman.
Videos and images from the scene show numerous police cars and a cordon has been put in place.
Anti-terrorist police are surrounding the Mixicom computer store in the French capital’s 10th arrondissement, close to the Gare du Nord Eurostar hub.
Local news outlet France Bleu reports that “the man claims to be in possession of a bomb and a handgun”.
French special forces, an ambulance and the bomb squad are on the scene and onlookers say the area is on lockdown.
One man was injured when the Muslim hostage-taker attacked him with a wrench before taking the hostage.
A security source at the scene said the Muslim terrorist wanted to speak to the Iranian embassy and French government, but Police said the ‘incident’ was not believed to be terror-related.
UPDATE: The Muslim terrorist has been arrested after dousing two people including a pregnant woman with petrol and taking them hostage.
He demanded that he be put in touch with Abolghasem Delfi, Iran’s Ambassador in the city, to deliver a message to the French government, police sources said.
But after almost four hours inside the offices of a tech company in the French capital, armed officers moved in, and arrested him.
One police source said the Muslim terrorist ‘appeared to be psychologically disturbed’, and ruled out a terrorist motive.
