Terror in France: Muslim terrorist rams his car into a crowd while shouting ‘allahu akbar’
A Muslim terrorist has been arrested after ramming his car into a crowd of people outside a bar in southern France while shouting allahu akbar.
The 32-year-old terrorist sped towards a crowd of about 50 outside the bar at around 1am Friday local time in Nimes, southern France, where bystanders had gathered in preparation for the region’s annual grape harvesting festival.
However, his white Peugeot ran into barriers. Two people standing behind the barriers received slight injuries to their legs.
After the car-ramming attack, the Muslim terrorist attempted to flee but was dragged to the ground and neutralized by passersby before police arrived.
Several witnesses told AFP that the terrorist shouted ‘allahu akbar’ during the terror attack.
A police spokesman declined to comment on the terrorist’s motives but said the investigation was being handled by regular police rather than anti-terror police.
He was in a state of ‘mental confusion’ during his arrest and has been hospitalized, public prosecutor Eric Maurel said.
