Terror in Belgium: 2 Police officers and a passerby murdered, Muslim terrorist eliminated after taking hostage
Two female police officers and a male passerby have been murdered by a Muslim terrorist in a shooting outside a high school in east Belgium.
The terrorist approached the two officers, named as Lucile Garcia and Soraya Belkacemi, from behind in the city of Liege at around 10.30am local time. He then stabbed the pair before taking their guns and shooting them dead.
After killing the two officers, he then shot Cyril Vangriecken before making his way on foot to a nearby school. The 22-year-old was reportedly in the passenger seat of his mother’s car when he was shot.
Four officers were injured as police and the terrorist engaged in a shoot-out near the L’athénée Léonie de Waha, a secondary school in the city centre.
The terrorist shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ as he opened fire, local news website DHnet.be claimed.
‘He was seen running into the Waha secondary school, where he was said to have taken a female cleaner hostage.’
Minutes later, anti-terrorist special forces police could be seen surrounding the area, which went into lock down.
The terrorist was shot and eliminated at 11am.
