IDF soldier murdered, 2 critically wounded by Muslim terrorists in combined stabbing, shooting attack at Ariel, Gitai junctions in Samaria
BREAKING: An IDF soldier was murdered and two civilians were critically wounded in a combined shooting and stabbing attack near the Jewish community of Ariel.
According to initial reports, a vehicle with at least two Muslim terrorists arrived at the Ariel Junction. One of the terrorists stabbed to death an IDF soldier and stole his weapon.
The terrorists then shot another man, apparently a foreign national, stole his car and fled the scene. They drove to a bus stop at Gitai Avishar Junction, where they shot a third person before fleeing the scene in the direction of Barkan.
Manhunt for two Muslim terrorists underway.
IDF forces entered to the Arab village of Burkin and are engaged in fire exchanges with the Muslim terrorists. The stolen car used in the terror attack was found abandoned at the Brukin Junction.
Muslim terror-sympathizers in the area were reportedly encouraged to take down security cameras in order to make the hunt for the terrorists more difficult.
Security forces then began checks of every vehicle driving on the road, fearing that the terrorists would try to reach central Israel in another vehicle.
An additional person has been shot in Burkin and is currently on the way to the hospital.
Two surviving victims were taken for treatment to the Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva.
Rabbi Achiad Ettinger has been identified as one of the injured in the terror attack. He is a father of 12, from Eli.
“I was passing the Ariel Junction in a car when I heard gunfire and saw soldiers running,” said a Magen David Adom paramedic, Hanannel Hass. “When the gunfire stopped, I got out of the car and saw a young man lying unconscious with gunshot wounds to his upper body.”
“We are in the midst of pursuing these terrorists,” said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the start of the weekly cabinet meeting. “I am sure they will be captured and brought to justice, just as others who committed similar attacks.”
Hamas terrorists and Muslim terror fans begin handing out sweets in Gaza as they praise the terror attack.
Security experts speculated that the domestic disturbances against Hamas could lead the terror group to carry out terror attacks in Israel as a diversion.
