Smuggling attempt foiled: Israel Police found 39 guns near the border with Lebanon
BREAKING: Israel Border Police detectives in a joint operation with the IDF thwarted the smuggling of weapons from Lebanon into Israel, it was cleared for publication on Thursday.
About three weeks ago, a suspicious movement near the border with Lebanon was identified. After searching the area, an Israel Police force found 39 guns of various types.
Border Unit detectives arrested an Arab in his 30s, from the Arab village of Yarka in northern Israel, who was suspected of collecting the weapons.
The suspect’s arrest was extended and after 14 days of investigation, he was released.
The investigation is ongoing.
“Thanks to the vigilance of Adi, an 18-year-old combat intelligence soldier, a smuggling attempt of 40 guns from Lebanon into Israel was thwarted. 👏 round of applause 👏,” the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit tweeted.
