Shooting attack in Jerusalem, 2 Police officers wounded

Two Israeli Border Police officers were seriously wounded after gunmen opened fire on a police car traveling along Jerusalem’s Salah a-Din street on Tuesday afternoon.

According to a Jerusalem Police spokesman, the terrorist opened fire on a patrol, wounding one officer, and then immediately fled the scene.

Other officers gave chase, and in an exchange of fire another officer was shot and seriously injured, before his comrades succeeded in shooting dead the terrorist.

Police recovered a Carl-Gustav style submachine gun from the terrorist’s body, a cheaply-manufactured weapon which has been regularly used by Palestinian Arab terrorists in shooting attacks.

The injured officers have been evacuated to Hadassah Ein Karem hospital for treatment.

One of the police officers wounded in the shooting attack in Jerusalem is in extremely severe condition. His life is in danger.

The second victim is fully conscious and in moderate condition, sources within Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital announced.
