Shin Bet: 480 terror attack thwarted, 590 Muslim terrorists arrested in past year
Shin Bet chief Nadav Argaman said on Tuesday that the relative calm in Judea and Samaria is “deceiving”, and that Hamas terror group is still trying to carry out terror attacks with directions from Gaza, Turkey and Lebanon.
“In the Judea and Samaria, the reality is very complex. We can discern a relative calm, but this quiet is deceptive, underneath the surface, the area is bubbling, Hamas is trying with all its might to carry out attacks,” he said.
“In the past year, we have thwarted 480 attacks, including 219 Hamas squads, and prevented 590 lone terrorists. This is a very large scope that can only indicate the extent of terrorism taking place under the surface,” Argaman added.
On Gaza, Argaman cited the danger of a flare-up on the one hand and attempts to stabilize the humanitarian situation on the other.
A 37-year-old Muslima terrorist from the terror nest of Yatta was shot and neutralized today after attempting to carry out a stabbing attack in Kfar Adumim, east of Jerusalem.
