Security Cabinet meeting has instructed the IDF to continue striking Hamas
Israel’s security cabinet instructed the IDF to continue to act with force after its meeting at the IDF headquarters in Tel Aviv on Thursday evening.
“The cabinet has instructed the IDF to continue to act with force against perpetrators of terror,” a brief cabinet statement said.
Two rockets fired from Gaza shortly after 9 pm landed in open areas in the Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council. One of the rockets caused a fire. No injuries reported.
Residents of the Israeli cities near the Gaza border and Netivot have been instructed to remain near bomb shelters as Code Red sirens continue to blare.
The Home Front Command announced the cancellation of all summer day camps and other educational activities in the Gaza border communities. Public services will be held in a limited format and that only gatherings of up to 300 people are allowed.
The Zikim Beach is closed to visitors.
Earlier, for the first time since 2014, incoming rocket sirens were activated in the southern Israeli city of Beer Sheva and surrounding towns.
At least one rocket reportedly exploded near Beer Sheva. No injuries reported. Another rocket was intercepted by the Iron Dome.
In response, the IDF destroyed a Hamas multi-story building in western Gaza City. The building, which is officially defined as a ‘cultural center’, was used by Hamas for Jihadist activities.
