Russia detains American in Moscow over suspected spying

BREAKING: Russia’s domestic security service (FSB) said on Monday it had detained American citizen Paul Whelan suspected of spying in Moscow, local news agencies reported.

“On December 28, a US citizen Paul Whelan was detained by officers of the Russian Federal Security Service during a spy action in Moscow”, the press office said.

The FSB added that a criminal case under the article “espionage” was initiated against him.
