Rockets fired at Israeli civilians following targeted elimination of senior Islamic Jihad terrorist in Gaza
BREAKING: Massive barrages of rockets are being fired by Muslim terrorists from Gaza into southern and central Israel following the elimination of Muslim terrorist Baha Abu al-Ata, the commander of the Islamic Jihad in northern Gaza and the assassination attempt of a senior Islamic Jihad terrorist in Damascus.
The IDF said that the Iron Dome defense system intercepted 60 of the 160 rockets launched from Gaza as of 2 pm.
Emergency services treated 29 people. One of them was wounded by shrapnel, 15 were injured while running for shelter and 13 suffered from shock.
An 8-year-old girl collapsed while running for shelter in Holon. She was evacuated to Wolfson hospital in serious condition.
The Home Front Command instructed residents of Gush Dan and southern Israel not to go to work that is not essential.
Residents in Israel’s central Dan and Yarkon regions were instructed not to congregate more than 300 people in closed spaces. “Non-essential jobs” are permissible provided readily accessible, standard shelters.
Gatherings of up to 100 people have been limited in southern Israel.
Schools will remain closed today in southern Israel, Gush Dan and Jerusalem. Over a million pupils are missing studies.
Israel Railways announced that train stations in Israeli communities near the Gaza border have been closed and train lines in southern Israel have been canceled.
“We just targeted Islamic Jihad commander in Gaza, Baha Abu Al Ata. Al Ata was directly responsible for hundreds of terror attacks against Israeli civilians and soldiers. His next attack was imminent”, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit tweeted.
Gaza’s Health Ministry says a man and a woman have been killed in the blast and two other people were wounded.
The airstrike damaged half of the second and most of the third floors of a house in the Shejaeya neighborhood east of the city.
Israel media reported lately that Abu el-Atta was responsible for recent rocket attacks against southern Israel communities, instructed by Tehran.
The strike was approved by PM Netanyahu. Shortly afterward, the Primer Minister’s Office confirmed that Ata has been eliminated.
