Report: Israel agrees to Gaza seaport in exchange for the bodies of 2 IDF soldiers
The Hadashot reports that Israel has agreed to set up a seaport for Gaza in Cyprus in exchange for the release of the bodies of IDF soldiers, Oron Shaul and Hadar Goldin, who were killed in 2014 during Protective Edge operation, and three live Israeli citizens.
Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman advanced the plan in Cyprus when he visited the country over the weekend.
The plan will include the establishment of an Israeli mechanism to ensure Hamas terror group does not use the port for weapons smuggling.
Liberman’s office said that the defense establishment were working with the international community on plans to change Gaza’s reality, but neither confirmed nor denied the report.
