Muslim terrorist eliminated after opening fire at IDF troops was a Doctors Without Borders nurse
The Muslim terrorist who was shot and eliminated last week after opening fire at IDF troops in northern Gaza was a Doctors Without Border (Medecins Sans Frontieres) nurse.
Israel is seeking an explanation from the international aid group.
The COGAT – Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, named the terrorist as Hani Majdalawi and said he was shot and eliminated on Monday after shooting and throwing a grenade at soldiers from close range near the fence on the Gazan side of Zikim beach.
“We have reached out to Doctors without Borders for clarification regarding the matter,” a COGAT spokesman said.
The organization did not immediately reply to phone and email queries by Reuters. Its website says that the group runs three burns and trauma centers in Gaza.
Authorities in Gaza did not confirm Majdalawi’s death, saying that would require having his body, which they believed was being held by Israel.
The IDF said they could not immediately confirm this.
No terror group claimed Majdalawi as a member.
Prior to his terror attack, the Muslim terrorist worked as a nurse until his very last day in the international organization, “Doctors Without Borders.” Not only that; according to his brother, he purchased the weapons, with which he carried out his terrorist mission, with his own money, which indicates a well thought of and planned attack.
“So we wonder: How can a person, trained to save lives, purchase weapons with the direct intention to put an end to people’s lives? It is preferable that one who saves lives should engage in humanitarian activity in the Gaza Strip rather than in terrorism.
“And one last thing: this story proves yet again that not every doctor or reporter killed by IDF forces near the Israeli border with the Gaza Strip is necessarily only an innocent doctor or a reporter”, the COGAT said.
Responding to Israeli media reports on Majdalawi’s elimination, his brother, Osama, described the married 28-year-old on Facebook as a “martyr” who had “bought the weapon with his own money” and acted “completely independently”.
The Facebook post said the Muslim terrorist had worked for Doctors Without Borders and that he had been “the most socially, psychologically and economically stable among his brothers”.
