Manhunt continues for 3 Muslim terrorists who murdered Dvir Sorek

The IDF, Shin Bet and the Border Police operated overnight in the Gush Etzion area, in search for three Muslim terrorists who brutally murdered 19-year-old IDF soldier and Yeshiva student Dvir Sorek on Thursday.

IDF and security forces assess that the terror attack was planned in advance, and have significant concerns of another attack in the coming hours.

The IDF is also concern about copycat attacks by other terror cells or lone wolf terrorists elsewhere in Judea and Samaria.

Forces believe the terrorists are still in the vicinity of the terror attack and have entered the Arab city of Halhul overnight Thursday during the search.

The manhunt for the terrorists has expanded south Friday morning. The IDF is currently searching the city of Hevron and the surrounding area.

Dvir was a student at a religious seminary in the Jewish community of Migdal Oz, and had joined the IDF while continuing his studies, in a program known in Hebrew as “hesder”,  which combines Torah studies with military service.

Dvir’s body was found with multiple stab wounds in the early hours of the morning on the side of a road near the seminary where he studied. The soldier was neither armed nor in uniform when his body was found.

The terror attack was carried out as Dvir was making his way from the square near the entrance to the Jewish community of Efrat to the nearby community of Migdal Oz.

The Muslim terrorists are believed to have followed Dvir in a vehicle before murdering him and fleeing the scene.

Thousands gathered on Thursday evening at the civilian cemetery in the Jewish community of Ofra for the funeral of soldier Dvir Sorek.

As Dvir Sorek’s body was lowered into the grave, Muslim terror fans from the Arab village of Silwad, which overlooks the Ofra cemetery, launched fireworks in celebration of the brutal terror attack.

“Our dear and beloved Dvir, in a few days we were supposed to celebrate your 19th birthday. I think of these 19 years and I can’t help but smile because the memory of you brings lightens up my face”, eulogized Dvir’s father Yoav.

“We had been given a gift which for the past 19 years has spread light and goodness within and outside our family. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, without pretentiousness and cynicism, God gave us this gift and he took it away,” said the father.
