Jerusalem synagogue desecrated by unknown vandals
Unknown vandals desecrated a synagogue Monday night in the Kiryat Yovel neighborhood of Jerusalem.
The synagogue was broken into and its holy contents, including Torah scrolls and prayer books, were destroyed.
The police opened an investigation.
“The vandalism of a synagogue and desecration of Torah scrolls last night in Jerusalem are a terrible act. The sights pain the heart and prompt difficult feelings,” Education Minister Naftali Bennett said.
Interior Minister Aryeh Deri said the shocking display of violence was reminiscent of the anti-Semitic pogroms carried out in the Nazi era.
