Jerusalem: 32 Muslims arrested over PA Security Services enlistment – 15 wanted terrorists arrested in Judea-Samaria
At the end of a covert investigation, the Israel Police arrested overnight Monday 32 Israeli-Muslim citizens from east Jerusalem who joined the ranks of the Palestinian Authority Security Services.
During the search of the suspects’ homes, tens of thousands of shekels had been seized along with the Palestinian Authority Police’s certificates, uniforms and various types of weapons.
The Palestinian Authority’s Governor of Jerusalem Adnan Gheith was arrested overnight at his home in Silwan.
The police suspect Gheith recruited Israeli citizens or residents to serve in an armed force, in violation of the Oslo Accords International Law. He has been remanded in custody for five days.
This is the second time Gheith has been arrested. About a month ago he was arrested and questioned by police on suspicion of being part of the kidnapping of East Jerusalem resident Issam Akel, who has American citizenship, to the Palestinian Authority after the latter was suspected of selling real estate to Jews.
The IDF arrested 15 Muslim terrorists overnight in Judea and Samaria, who were wanted for involvement in terrorism and violent disorders directed against civilians and security personnel.
The terrorists were turned over to security agencies for further investigation.
In addition, as part of an ongoing campaign against illegal weapons, IDF forces discovered weapons in the Arab villages of Yatta and Beit Ummar in the Hevron area.
