Israeli fighter jets bombed Iranian cargo plane unloading munitions in Damascus Airport

The Israeli Air Force allegedly fired two missiles at the Syrian capital city of Damascus, tonight, Arab media reported.

According to these reports, the Israeli Air Force fired two missiles at an Iranian air force Ilyushin Il-76 cargo plane unloading munitions at the Damascus International Airport.

According to sources, the explosions caused the plane to burst into flames with a number of unidentified casualties.

A Syrian military source confirmed that the Damascus Airport area was targeted, but they could not verify the reports about the Iranian plane being targeted.

Shortly after the attack, the National Defense Forces (NDF) in the northern part of the Al-Quneitra Governorate reported a powerful explosion above the town of Hadar.

The NDF sources said the explosion was a result of a Syrian air defense missile intercepting an Israeli drone in northern Al-Quneitra.

The Israeli Air Force hit multiple targets in Syria last months as part of retaliatory measures amid the Iranian military buildup in Syria.
