Israel bombs a Hamas terror target in Gaza in response to rocket fire
Israeli fighter jets bombed a Hamas terror group target in Gaza in response to a rocket fired at southern Israel late Wednesday night. IAF fighter jets struck a terror underground infrastructure in a Hamas military compound in southern Gaza.
The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said that a rocket fired from Gaza into Israeli territory was intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense system.
“The IDF will continue operating against any attempt to harm Israeli civilians and views the Hamas terror organization accountable for all events transpiring in the Gaza Strip and emanating from it”, the IDF said in a statement.
The rocket is the first to be launched at Israel since a so-called ceasefire agreement was reached between Israel and the terror groups in Gaza in early May. At the time, nearly 700 rockets were launched by Muslim terrorists from Gaza at Israeli civilians, while Israel aerially bombarded terror targets in Gaza in response to the rockets.
Earlier on Wednesday, the IDF announced a full naval blockade on Gaza in response to hundreds of firebombs and explosive devices launched by Muslim terrorists into Israeli territory. All vessels, including of the fisherman’s union are banned from sailing, according to an IDF statement.
Israel has decreased the Gaza’s fishing perimeter to six nautical miles Tuesday, following the launching of several firebombs into Israeli border communities that caused fires.
