Iran: We can sink US warships with 'secret weapon'

Iran can sink US warships sent to the Gulf region using missiles and “secret weapons”, a senior Iranian military official was quoted as saying by the semi-official news agency Mizan on Saturday.

“America.. is sending two warships to the region. If they commit the slightest stupidity, we will send these ships to the bottom of the sea along with their crew and planes using two missiles or two new secret weapons,” General Morteza Qorbani, an adviser to Iran’s military command, told Mizan.

The statement comes amid mounting US-Iran tensions which exacerbated earlier this month when the US imposed more anti-Iran sanctions and sent an aircraft carrier strike group, a squadron of B-52 bombers and a battery of Patriot missiles to the Middle East.

President Trump approves additional deployment to Persian Gulf to counter Iran

The United States increased its military presence in the Persian Gulf region citing “troubling and escalatory indications and warnings” from Tehran. Pictures showing Iranian paramilitary forces loading missiles onto small boats, amid concern that the Revolutionary Guards terror group would fire them at US navy vessels, are behind the recent escalation.

Yesterday, President Donald Trump gave his approval to deploy additional military resources to the Persian Gulf region to deter Iranian threats.

President Trump said Sunday that war would be “the official end of Iran.”

Iranian trucks carrying S-300 air defense systems were seen heading towards Asaluyeh, in the southern coastal province of Bushehr.

Bushehr is the site of Iran’s main nuclear reactor.
