Iran ramps up nuclear program – Netanyahu: We’ll never allow Iran nuclear weapons
Iran announced Tuesday it would inject uranium gas into 1,044 centrifuges that had previously been kept empty under its 2015 nuclear deal with world powers.
Iran’s nuclear chief, Ali Akbar Salehi, said Iran would begin enriching uranium to 5-per-cent purity at Fordow, meaning the resulting fuel would be suitable for civilian use.
Salehi said the site was capable of enriching to 20 percent, short of weapons-grade fuel but shortening the time needed to reach that level.
The decision marks what Iran calls its “fourth step” away from the accord, which saw Iran agree to limit its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions.
Yesterday, PM Netanyahu vowed to “never let Iran develop nuclear weapons”.
”Iran expands its aggression everywhere. It seeks to envelop Israel. It seeks to threaten Israel. It seeks to destroy Israel,” Netanyahu said at an event in Jerusalem.
“We fight back,” he added.
Netanyahu again addressed the Iranian issue this morning: “Iran is intensifying its aggression. It wants to hurt Israel.
“I reiterate: we will never allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons.”
