IDF warns Gaza terrorists against sending flying firebombs attached to kites into Israeli territory
IDF Spokesperson Maj. Avichai Adraee appealed to the residents of Gaza to warn them against sending incendiary kites flying into Israeli territory.
“The phenomenon of incendiary kites is not hidden from our eyes and we see it very severely,” he tweeted, adding that “the IDF views Hamas as responsible for everything that happens in Gaza and comes out of it.”
Then, addressing the residents of Gaza directly, Adraee said: “Hamas is using you, and is pushing you towards the circle of terrorism.”
“I advise you to stop working for Hamas and start working for yourselves to solve your own problems,” he tweeted.
Weekly Muslim riots on the Gaza border will resume on Friday after mosque for the sixth week in a row, with IDF officials and residents of the Gaza vicinity weary of increased usage of incendiary kites intended to set fire to their fields.
Seeing the effectiveness of incendiary kites, which have caused huge fires in southern Israel and destroyed crops, Hamas and riots organizers are encouraging their use.
According to Agricultural Minister Uri Ariel, Gazans attempting to fly in burning kites should be shot in order to foster deterrence. “After two or three of them get a bullet in the knees, it will not happen again,” Ariel said.
“Shoot in the knees anyone who throws firebombs and burns these wonderful fields, where the real Zionists live,” added Ariel. “We cannot let this phenomenon continue, there is no justification for it. It’s terrorism like any other form of terrorism.”
Recognizing the farmers’ financial distress, the State of Israel announced earlier this week that it will compensate monetarily the owners of the burned fields. To date, these “firebomb kites” have caused damage of several million shekels.
