IDF strikes wide range of terrorists targets in Gaza – Over 150 launched at Israel overnight
The IDF struck more than 140 terrorist targets in Gaza in retaliation for massive barrages of rockets that were fired at Israel overnight.
The IDF started striking Gaza after 4 rockets fired from Gaza hit the southern Israeli town of Sderot on Wednesday evening, injuring 11 Israelis.
For the last 10 hours, thousands of Israeli civilians living in Southern Israel have been running for shelter as more than 150 rockets were launched at them from Gaza.
25 rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system and the rest landed in open areas.
In response, the IDF targeted more than 140 Hamas terrorist positions including a cement factory used by Hamas to build terror tunnels, a maritime terror tunnel shaft and several terror sites and military compounds.
One Muslim terrorist was eliminated in the targeted elimination. The terrorist was identified as 30-year-old Ali Alrandur, son of a senior terrorist commander of Hamas’ armed wing, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam. Six other terrorists were injured in the attack.
A 23-year-old pregnant woman and her 16-month-old toddler were killed in an airstrike that targeted a terrorist infrastructure in the center of Gaza. Her husband, probably a Hamas terrorist, was injured and is in serious condition.
The IDF started backing up its aerial defense batteries, and has begun deploying more Iron Dome missile defense batteries in southern Israel to prepare for a scenario in which Gaza rockets will be aimed deeper into Israeli territory.
Early Thursday morning, emergency medical responders stated that a 30-year-old woman is considered to be moderate to serious condition and has been evacuated to a hospital to receive further medical care after she was injured as a result of a rocket landing near her in the Gaza-border community Eshkol Regional Council. Another man is being treated for mild injuries, MDA said in a statement.
Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon reported that MDA medics brought in eight people with light injuries and one man, 54, who sustained moderate injuries.
MDA reported that 17 people were injured, many of them were treated for shock as well as three pregnant women who began having labor contractions due to the stress.
Damage was caused to buildings, cars and sidewalks in direct rocket strikes on the city of Sderot.
