IDF strikes Hamas terror tunnel, naval targets in Gaza in response to infiltration and arson attack
The IDF on Wednesday struck a Hamas terror tunnel in northern Gaza, as well as two additional military targets belonging to the terror group naval forces, according to the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit.
The strikes were in response to the event that took place yesterday morning, when a number of Muslim terrorists infiltrated Israel and set a military post on fire.
The IDF views these continued attempts with great severity, specifically Hamas’ daily attempts to damage Israeli security infrastructure and threats to the safety of Israeli civilians. The IDF is determined to fulfil its mission to protect Israeli civilians.
The Hamas terror organization is accountable for all threats originating from Gaza, above and below ground, and will bear the consequences for its actions against Israeli civilians and Israeli sovereignty, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said.
Additionally, the strikes were carried out in response to the ongoing attempts to dispatch drones and kites, with the intention of conducting terrorist activity and setting Israeli territory on fire.
Arab media reported that a training compound belonging to Hamas’ military wing and two boats in the Gaza seaport were targeted in the strike. According to Arab reports, the targeted boats were due to depart to meet a flotilla of terrorism-sympathizers hoping to reach Gaza.
Local residents reported hearing three explosions at the port. A fire broke out at the scene, which rescue forces were working to extinguish.
There were no casualties, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
