IDF sends humanitarian aid mission to Albania after devastating earthquake

The IDF is sending a humanitarian aid mission to Albania in the wake of a deadly earthquake that claimed at least 51 lives and destroyed thousands of buildings.

“We just dispatched an IDF humanitarian aid delegation to Albania following the devastating earthquake that took 50+ lives and left thousands injured,” the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit tweeted.

The team, consisting of 10 regular and reserve troops, will team up with European engineers and will focus on surveying buildings to find whether they remained structurally sound after the quake.

“Israel will assist its ally Albania. The delegation is a testament to the excellent relations between the countries and the close dialogue between them for many years, both at a governmental level and between nations,” Foreign Minister Israel Katz said.

Israel Rescue and Service team from Mevo’ot HaHermon Regional Council was sent to Albania last week to help with search and rescue efforts.
