Germany: 14-year-old Jewish girl raped and murdered by Iraqi Muslim who fled to Iraq
Police in Germany are hunting an Iraqi ‘asylum-seeker’ over the rape and murder of a 14-year-old Jewish girl.
A Turkish man, 35, is already in custody as part of the investigation into the 14-year-old’s death.
Susanna Feldman had been missing since May 22 and her body was found on the outskirts of the western city of Wiesbaden, west Germany.
Yesterday, investigators made a gruesome discovery when they found her body in an overgrown patch of forest next to a railway track near Wiesbaden, a city in the central German state of Hesse.
A police investigator said: ‘We all assume that the body is Susanna’s.
‘But we cannot say for sure as the corpse was buried.’
According to local media, who quoted anonymous sources within Wiesbaden Police, Susanna was strangled to death.
Prosecutors suspect the man in custody and 20-year-old Iraqi asylum-seeker Ali Basar raped and murdered the girl before burying her.
Basar is last week believed to have fled with his family to Erbil, Iraq, via Istanbul, and was suspected in a string of previous offences, including robbery at knifepoint.
He is thought to arrived in Germany in October 2015 during the height of a migrant influx to Germany and was appealing the rejection of his asylum application.
The Turkish suspect, who was not previously known to police, was arrested Wednesday evening.
Police said a 13-year-old refugee boy went to a police station in Wiesbaden on Sunday and told officers the girl had been raped and killed.
He named the Iraqi as a possible perpetrator.
