Gaza terrorist groups vow to escalate violence
Gaza Strip-based terrorist groups praised the string of terrorist attacks that struck Israel on Tuesday, calling them “heroic acts” and vowing to escalate the violence further.
An American tourist was murdered and more than a dozen other people were wounded on Tuesday in three separate terrorist attacks that took place within the span of two hours in Jerusalem, Yaffo, and Petach Tikva.
“The attacks prove that the conspiracies seeking to thwart the intifada have and will fail,” Hamas said in a statement released on Tuesday night. “The blood of the shahids will not be spilled in vain. The intifada will continue until it achieves its goals.”
Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said, “The blood of the shahids killed in these heroic acts will fuel the intifada.”
The Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ military wing, urged Palestinians to continue carrying out terrorist attacks.
A statement by Islamic Jihad said the ongoing violence “send a clear message to anyone who doubts whether the intifada will continue.”
The Palestinian Authority refrained from commenting on the attacks.
Meanwhile, the Middle East Media Research Institute revealed Tuesday that Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas sent a condolence letter to the family of Amani Hosni Jawad al-Sabatin, killed on March 4 when she attempted to carry out a ramming attack against Israeli soldiers stationed at the Gush Etzion Junction in Samaria.
MEMRI noted that “for reasons that are unclear, the letter was on the official letterhead of the Palestinian Embassy in Jordan” and praised al-Sabatin as having “sacrificed her pure soul for the fight for the Palestinian homeland.”
