Iranian air force chief: We cannot wait to fight Israel and eliminate it from the Earth

The head of Iran’s air force has threatened his country is ‘impatient’ to fight Israel and ‘eliminate it from the Earth’ – after Israel bombed Iranian targets Sunday night in Syria in response to surface-to-surface missiles by Iranian forces from Syria toward Israel.

“The young people in the air force are fully ready and impatient to confront the Zionist regime and eliminate it from the Earth,” Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh was quoted as saying by state-linked the Young Journalists Club news agency.

The comments came after the IDF said it had targeted Iranian infrastructures including munition storage sites, an Iranian intelligence site, an Iranian military training camp, a military site located in the Damascus International Airport and weapons warehouses in other locations.

Earlier on Sunday,  the IDF activated the Iron Dome anti-air missile battery against at least two missiles incoming from Syria towards the Mount Hermon area in northern Israel. No damage or injuries reported in Israel.

“The Iranian attack toward Israel’s territory is yet another clear proof of the intention behind Iran’s attempts at entrenchment in Syria and of the danger they pose to the State of Israel and to regional stability,” the IDF said. “The IDF will continue to operate with decisiveness and determination against Iran’s entrenchment in Syria.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement: “We have a defined policy: to harm Iranian entrenchment in Syria and to harm anyone who tries to harm us.”

As opposed to previous strikes, the IDF took responsibility for the strikes in real time, a clear change in policy. Until now, Israel has remained ambiguous about its actions in Syria, rarely admitting that it was behind mysterious overnight bombings there.

“The policy has changed,” Intelligence Minister Israel Katz revealed Monday morning in an interview with Army Radio.

“This is an open confrontation with Iran. When we need to step it up, we’ll step it up,” he said, adding that Israel was intensifying its attacks against the Iranians terror ambitions in Syria.
