Israel has arrested two senior officials from the Palestinian Authority over suspicions they helped abduct an American citizen resident of Jerusalem, their lawyers said.

They are suspected of having assisted in abducting a resident of Jerusalem two weeks ago, who has since been held by the Palestinian Authority, their lawyers said. Both men deny the charges, they said.

According to reports, the man who had been abducted was wanted by the Palestinian Authority for selling an Arab property in Jerusalem’s Old City to Jewish investors.
