It said the 45-year-old Muslim terrorist told police in his initial statement that he planned to drive to the Israeli embassy in the Turkish capital and stage a protest.
According to DPA, the Ankara governor’s office said the man had been receiving treatment for psychological problems since 2007.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry clarified that the incident took place near the Israeli ambassador’s residence, not the embassy itself.
