Israeli ‘spy seagull’ caught and arrested in Tripoli
Another zoological conspiracy involving Israeli wildlife: Libyan media report a seagull detained in Tripoli and suspected of being an Israeli spy.
A seagull carrying an implanted receiver and a brass ring around its foot with markings in English that connected the suspect to Tel Aviv University was caught and arrested in Tripoli.
Images of the “alleged spy” saying that a receiver had been located on its body were posted on Twitter.
In the past several years, Israel has been accused of using all manner of birds and beasts to collect intelligence, including a 2010 shark attack in Egypt, spying eagles found by Hezbollah, the 2011 capture in Saudi Arabia of a griffon vulture carrying an Israeli-labeled satellite tracking device and spy dolphins off the coast of Gaza.
