Former Sanders adviser and self-hating American Jew detained at southern border
Former Bernie Sanders adviser and self-hating American Jew Simone Zimmerman was held by the Shin Bet security service at the border between Israel and Egypt for at least three hours and questioned about her anti-Israel activities, Israel’s Immigration Authority confirmed.
Zimmerman is a founding member of an ultra leftist movement to end the American Jewish community’s support for Israel.
While still detained at the Taba border crossing, Zimmerman wrote on Twitter that she and fellow Israel-hater Abby Kirschbaum were being questioned only about their political views and activities related to the Palestinian Authority. According to Zimmerman, among the first things she was asked were: “Why did you come here to work with Palestinians? Why not with Jews?”.
Kirschbaum was asked about which protests against Israeli policy she had attended in the Palestinian Authority territories and with which organizations, Zimmerman said. She was also asked if she wished to travel to Gaza and whether she had been at violent demonstrations.
Three hours later, the two were allowed to enter Israel.
Minister Erdan said: “The policy I have set is clear: Whoever consistently acts to boycott Israel will not enter here. The rules have changed, and the State of Israel will not restrain itself against those who try to harm it.”
