The escalation began overnight, after Israeli fighter jets struck three targets in a Hamas base located in the southern part of Gaza, in response to the continued burning of Israeli fields by Muslim terrorists launching firebombs from Gaza.
IAF fighter jets targeted Hamas terror objectives throughout Gaza for the third time tonight- 11 terror targets in four military compounds belonging to the Hamas terror group, including an underground training compound.
The Izz a-Din al-Qassam military wing of the Hamas terror group claimed responsibility for the rocket barrage and released a statement saying basically that the terror group will respond with more terrorism and rocket attacks to Israeli strikes on its terror targets.
In response to the rockets fired throughout the night from Gaza at Israel, IAF fighter jets targeted 28 terror objectives in the Gaza Strip thus far.
“The Hamas terror group targeted Israeli civilians throughout the night with a severe rocket attack and is dragging Gaza and its civilians down a deteriorating path. Hamas is responsible for everything that transpires in the Gaza Strip and will bear the consequences for deliberately targeting Israeli civilians. The IDF is prepared to defend Israeli civilians and will increase its activity as necessary”, the IDF said in a statement.
