CLEARED FOR PUBLICATION – Jerusalem Day terror attack thwarted. On Sunday, while Israelis celebrated Jerusalem Day, marking the 51th anniversary of the liberation of Jerusalem, a Muslim terrorist from Shechem planning a knife attack, attempted to enter Jerusalem via the Qalandiya checkpoint.
The terrorist, a Shechem resident in his 30s, aroused the suspicion of the troops at the checkpoint after presenting them with an expired entry permit. They searched him and found the knife hidden on his filthy person.
According to a preliminary indictment, the terrorist planned to enter Jerusalem and carrying out a stabbing attack.
A Jerusalem court extended the terrorist’s arrest by eight days. He is facing charges of attempted murder, the illegal possession of a knife, and making preparations to carry out a terror attack, among others.
