Terror attack planned for Israel's Independence day thwarted: Powerful bomb found in PA truck
Inspectors from the Defense Ministry’s Crossings Authority located an explosive device abroad a Palestinian Authority truck attempting to pass through the Reihan crossing near Jenin.
The ministry said the powerful device was found hidden on the truck’s roof. Police sappers have dealt with it on-site and the Muslim driver was arrested.
The bomb was purportedly intended to be used in an Independence Day terror attack.
The head of the crossings authority at the Defense Ministry, Erez Sidon, praised security forces’ activities at the crossing in cooperation with police sappers. “I am proud of the security inspectors who acted exactly as we expect them to, from the identification of the suspicious truck to the identification of the attempted smuggling that eventually turned out to be an explosive, apparently intended for an attack during Independence Day,” Sidon said.
