UC Merced Attacker Identified: Faisal Mohammad
The UC-Merced student who stabbed four people and was shot and killed by university police has been identified as Faisal Mohammad, 18 year-old freshman muslim from Santa Clara.
The FBI, are still looking for a ‘motive’ in the attack.
Mohammad is suspected of stabbing four people Wednesday morning on the Central Valley campus. He was shot by university police on a bridge about 40 yards away from the building where the first stabbing took place, according to the Sun-Star.
Two students, one staff member and a vendor were stabbed, according to UC Merced. All are expected to recover.
The stabbing happened in front of the Classroom and Office Building.
University senior Phil Coba, a student government representative, said numerous students told him that the stabbings started inside a classroom and continued outside before campus police shot and killed the attacker.
Authorities have not confirmed those accounts.
