Immigrants in Denmark: We flee to Sweden for the sake of welfare payments
Hundreds of immigrants who come to Denmark via Germany has desperately tried to escape on to Sweden. In an interview with Danish TV2 one of them explains why he is prepared to trek 500 kilometers to cross the country.
“Immigrant contributions here have been reduced by 50 percent, from 10,000 krone to 5,000 krone a month,” he said.
The Danish Parliament decided recently to cut subsidies for asylum-seekers in order to discourage immigrants from getting into the country.
The decision turned out to be a real stroke of genius. This weekend dramatic images was shown from Danish Rödby where hundreds of refugees in panic tried to flee further into Sweden away from the low premiums in Denmark.
