At least five Hamas terrorists injured in Gaza tunnel collapse

At least five terrorists of the Hamas terror group which runs the Gaza Strip, were injured in a terror tunnel collapse Sunday night.

According to the Palestinian Al-Quds site, medical sources reported that five men arrived at Gaza’s Shifa Hospital for treatment in stable condition.

The terrorists hurt in Sunday night’s tunnel collapse belonged to the terror group’s armed wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades.

Several tunnels running underneath the Gaza Strip collapsed in recent weeks due to a combination of bad weather and activities by the Egyptian and Israeli military to halt the ongoing underground construction.

Earlier this month, two Hamas terrorists were killed in a similar incident and seven more died a week earlier.

Israeli concerns increased on last month after Ismail Haniya, Hamas’s leader in Gaza, in comments at the seven men’s funeral, highlighted the growth of new terror tunnels.

But Mahmoud al-Zahar, a senior Hamas official, toned down the rhetoric with a statement on the Hamas website denying comments attributed to him that the tunnels had already reached into Israeli territory.
