Terror attack at Damascus Gate in Jerusalem

A stabbing attack took place at the Damascus Gate of Jerusalem’s Old City on Friday morning.

Two Border Policemen were reported as being lightly wounded in the attack, and the terrorist was neutralized.

Magen David Adom (MDA) teams provided medical treatment to the wounded at the site prior to evacuating them to hospital.

One officer was stabbed in the upper body and is moderately hurt. The other was stabbed in the arm and is in light condition.

According to the Magen David Adom ambulance service, the bystander, identified as a 50-year-old Palestinian woman from East Jerusalem, was hit in the leg by fragments or ricochets from the shots fired at the assailant by security forces. She was very light hurt. After being treated on the scene by medics, she was taken to an East Jerusalem hospital.

The terrorist was identified by police as Muhammad Abu Halaf, a 20-year-old Arab from the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Kafr Aqab. He was shot and eliminated by police during the terror attack.

Police have closed off the site. Additional forces have been deployed to the scene.
