BREAKING – Murderers of Henkin Couple Arrested
On Saturday security forces arrested the terror cell that murdered Rabbi Eitam and Naama Henkin last Thursday night, according to security sources.
The young couple was gunned down in front of their four children as they drove in their car just outside Itamar in Samaria, in an attack that Palestinian Authority(PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah faction has already claimed responsibility for.
Security sources say the group of terrorists arrested on Saturday likely includes those who physically conducted the murder and pulled the trigger, in addition to those planning and managing the logistics of the attack.
An investigation is ongoing, with further details still undisclosed.
The assumption among security sources is that the cell was highly trained and had been active in the region for several months, with its base located in Shechem (Nablus).
Numerous arrests have been conducted, and it is clear that a large terror infrastructure throughout Samaria was involved in the attack. As noted, a group of terrorists directly involved in the murder has been apprehended and is currently being interrogated.
A security source revealed that in addition to the arrests, IDF forces have been bolstered in Judea and Samaria, and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has instructed the security and transportation ministers to rush the paving of side roads avoiding points of friction with Arab motorists so as to boost security.
The planned paving of a road around Nabi Ilyas outside of Kalkilya to the north of Jerusalem is to be completed in the coming days.
However, sources close to Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel (Jewish Home) responded saying such plans are not being conducted, in an apparent dismissal of the strategy of curtailing Jewish movement instead of cracking down on Arab terror.
The security source also stated that the claim that IDF soldiers are not receiving proper backing from the political echelon isn’t accurate.
“I’m tired of the cynical usage of this awful attack by ministers in the government to gain political leverage and to raise proposals that in any case are already being conducted by the security system,” said the source.
“There are ministers who are acting like teenagers on Facebook and still don’t understand the meaning of being part of the government and the accompanying responsibility.”
“Ministers should express their opinions in internal forums and leave the operational control of security matters to ministers and sources who are appointed to them. You can’t be in the government and the opposition at the same time,” concluded the source.
