French Schools Replace Israel with ‘Palestine’

Paris claims that “a simple production error” caused students to receive maps with “Palestine” in place of Israel earlier this year.

The maps were part of a calendar given to elementary school students. The image showed Europe and part of the Middle East, ending around the middle of Israel. However, the area was designated as Palestine, and there was nomention of Israel. Saudi Arabia and Jordan were also not named.

The city responded to complaints with a statement declaring, “The borders of the map divide incorrectly the geographic area occupied by Israel and Palestine. The city affirms that this constitutes no adoption of any political stance.”
