Dozens protest in Hevron over violence
Dozens of people protested in the streets of Hevron on Monday night, hours after an Arab stabbed and seriously injured an Israeli in his forties.
Men and women, young and old, came to protest the violence.
Shortly after they began, however, a number of Arabs began throwing rocks at the protestors, Channel 1 reports. Police protected the demonstrators and no casualties were reported.
Border policemen shot and neutralized the terrorist at the site earlier Monday. In the hours after the attack, two policemen who were on duty when terror struck revealed that they had mere seconds to stop the attack.
“We ran towards him and we identified the terrorist as he leaned over to strike,” he continued. “We shot at him until he fell to the ground.”
“What remains now is to pray and hope for the injured man’s recovery,” he added.
The victim remains in critical condition despite undergoing emergency surgery at Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, hospital staff revealed Monday night.
Earlier in the day at the tomb of the Patriarchs, people gathered to light the second Hanukkah candle with members of Yeshivat Shevi and activist Yehuda Glick.
