France: Armed Muslim terrorist takes hostages at bank in the name of so-called Palestinians
A Muslim terrorist armed with a gun was holding three people hostage in a bank in northern France.
A police source said the hostage-taker terrorist had made statements in support of the so-called Palestinian cause. He was known to law enforcement authorities and was on a security service watch list, the source said.
The hostages were seized in a branch of Bred bank. The branch is on the ground floor of a six-story residential building.
An elite tactical unit of the French police arrived at the scene in the port of Le Havre. Officers cordoned off the area and urged the public to stay clear of the bank on Boulevard de Strasbourg in the city center.
The hostage-taker had initially seized six people at the bank, but two had subsequently been released. It was unclear if a third person was released or had escaped.
The police said the Muslim terrorist was a 34-year-old man with a history of ‘mental health problems’.
“We know that he has been radicalized and suffers a serious psychiatric illness,” Yves Lefebvre, head of the SPG Unite police union said.
