Watch: IDF locates bomb planted by Muslim terrorists on the Israeli border with Syria
IDF forces today searched the area where four Muslim terrorists planted bombs along the security border fence with Syria last night before being eliminated by troops from the Maglan elite unit.
During the searches, the IDF found weapons and a bag containing explosive devices ready to be used.
IDF troops on the southern Golan Heights adjacent to an IDF post spotted last night a terror squad placing explosive devices next to the security fence. IDF troops and an IDF aircraft fired simultaneously towards the squad of four terrorists, eliminating the threat.
No injuries were reported among the IDF.
“We just thwarted an attempt by four terrorists to place explosives near the security fence between Israel and Syria. Our troops and aircraft fired toward the squad and a hit was identified,” the IDF said.
“The Northern Command maintains elevated readiness for various scenarios. The IDF holds the Syrian regime responsible for all events on Syrian soil and will not tolerate any violation of Israeli sovereignty,” the IDF added.
The thwarted terror attack comes as tensions with the Iran-backed Hezbollah terror group show no signs of easing on Israel’s northern border.
Last week, the IDF thwarted a Hezbollah terrorist attack when a cell of four Muslim terrorists from Lebanon advanced several meters into Israeli territory.
The IDF called up reservists, deployed additional Iron Dome batteries and pushed the largest reinforcements since the 2006 war to the border with Lebanon. Israel assumes that Nasrallah is determined to launch a significant attack, partly due to the economic situation in Lebanon.
