PM Netanyahu: Hezbollah is playing with fire; any attack against us will be answered with great force
BREAKING: PM Netanyahu and DM Gantz responded to the security incident in northern Israel near the Lebanese border in which three Hezbollah terrorists were eliminated after infiltrating into Israeli territory in order to murder Jews.
“We view the attempt to infiltrate our territory with great severity. Hezbollah and the State of Lebanon are responsible for this incident and for any attack originating from Lebanese territory against Israel. Hezbollah is playing with fire. Any attack against us will be answered with great force,” Netanyahu warned in a statement to the press.
Netanyahu also said Hezbollah is doing Iran’s bidding and harming Lebanon.
DM Gantz said: “Israel is more determined than ever to prevent any harm to its sovereignty or its soldiers, and certainly to its citizens. Lebanon and Syria are sovereign states and will bear the painful responsibility for any terrorist act that originates from their territory”.
“Any action against the State of Israel will lead to a powerful, sharp and painful response. I want to say clearly – the IDF is ready to respond, the IDF is ready to respond. The State of Israel, the defense establishment and the IDF will continue to act wherever required, whether near or far,” Gantz added.
Earlier, the IDF thwarted a Hezbollah terror attack in the Har Dov area near the Lebanese border. Three Hezbollah terrorists crossed the border and infiltrated several meters into Israel. They were identified and eliminated by IDF troops.
There were no injuries among the IDF.
Following the attack, PM Netanyahu ordered the ministers not to talk about the incident and the tensions with Hezbollah.
“The event on the northern border is just beginning and the situation is tense,” Netanyahu said.
Last week, the IDF moved to a higher state of readiness to defend Israel’s northern border in preparation for Hezbollah’s response to the elimination of one of its terrorists in an alleged Israeli airstrike in Syria.
Yesterday, the IDF deployed artillery, armored reinforcements and additional Iron Dome batteries in preparation for an imminent Hezbollah attack on the Israel-Lebanon border.
