US officially withdraws from World Health Organization over coronavirus cover-up
The United States has officially withdrawn from the World Health Organization, more than a month after President Trump said the WHO conspired with the Chinese regime to cover-up the coronavirus outbreak.
WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom covered-up the severity of the outbreak in China, which began in late December, and the fact that the coronavirus could be transmitted from person to person.
“Chinese officials ignored their reporting obligations to the World Health Organization and pressured the World Health Organization to mislead the world when the virus was first discovered by Chinese authorities,” Trump said on May 29.
“Countless lives have been taken, and profound economic hardship has been inflicted all around the globe. They strongly recommended against me doing the early ban from China, but I did it anyway and was proven to be 100 percent correct,” he said.
The US announced measures to slash the funding of the body down from $400m a year to $40m a year, the same amount contributed by China.
