Code Red alert in southern Israel due to internal fighting in northern Sinai
BREAKING: A Code Red alert sounded in the Eshkol Regional Council in southern Israel due to a misfire from Sinai.
Eshkol Regional Council confirmed the Code Red alert. An explosion was heard in the area.
According to initial reports, the alerts were triggered by machine-gun fire from internal fighting between ISIS terrorists and the Egyptian army in northern Sinai.
“A short while ago, an alert was activated in the southern Gaza envelope area in an open area and on the mobile application as a result of non-rocket fire,” the IDF said in a statement.
Hundreds of Muslim terrorists have been eliminated by the Egyptian army, backed by police and other security forces since it launched a wide-scale operation in February 2018 aimed at eradicating terrorists, mostly members of ISIS or ISIS-linked terror groups in the Sinai peninsula. The operation is still ongoing.
